Join our very own musical theatre enthusiast, Mike Bentley, for his weekly show as he takes a look at some of the greatest musical theatre performances. Also accompanying him are regular guests from the local music theatre community.
Mike is a self employed business consultant in dentistry working with Horton Consulting. Mike has worked in dentistry for 18 years and his job is very varied encompassing coaching dental practices and a great deal of presenting at dental events in the U.K and Europe.
Mike trained as a musical theatre performer at Stratford Upon Avon Performing Arts School and has been performing on stage for over 20 years. Through his varied guises in musical theatre he has clocked up several performances in musicals all over the West Midlands. Mike’s musical highlights have included, Angel in Rent (Old joint stock), Eddie Cox in Wallop Mrs Cox at the (Birmingham Hippodrome), Jeffy in Title of Show (Worcester college theatre) Freddie Savage in 3 Summers (workshop musical, Artrix Theatre Bromsgrove), Mullet in Shirt & Tie (workshop musical), Boy George in The wedding Singer and Scholomo in Fame (The Old Rep Birmingham). Most recently Mike has performed as Carmen Ghia for two local groups in the west Midlands and this year performed as Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie following in the footsteps of Paul O Grady and Craig Revel Horwood.
Mike has enjoys a varied career performing across the U.K, singing in a range of club and hotel venues as a solo act and in cabaret.
Mike has professionally recorded a number of songs for Stuart Jones on Gap Music and he appears on two original musical album recordings for “Shirt & Tie” and “Picture This, Picture Life” with both leading E.P’s, having single’s that scored top 40 hits on iTunes.
Mike appeared on the X factor in 2007 and has just completed filming for a new 6 part television show in social ballroom dancing which is set to air in 2017.
Mike joined the judging panel in 2016 for Balsall common finds the voice competition and attended his first Balsall common festival which he loved and cant wait for next years competition supporting our local talent.
